This is a Christmas present from Hollie and Matt. We're spending the holiday in Lynchburg, VA together this year, and decided to create a gift for everyone we cannot be with! Enjoy. (See more recording pics here on my

This is a cover of a hymn written in 1861. My sister Hollie was in town when I was recording this, so I got her to sing and play flute. I am hoping to continue recording covers of my favorite hymns, along with other musicians and hymn-lovers.

I wrote the lyrics to this song in the Fall of '09. When I realized that my prediction had indeed come true, in late January, 2010, I committed this to song to tape. My only reference material for this piece was a farmer's almanac.

I wrote this song upon my return from New Orleans where I aided in relief efforts from Hurricane Katrina. After this trip, my life drastically changed.

This song is from my sophomore year in college. I don't remember the specifics as to why I wrote this piece - but it was the product of frustrations brought about by females, as well as some re-assuring conversations that took place inside of a '89 Chevy Celebrity.

I wrote this song on mis-informed emotions. After creating 16 different full-length versions of it, I finally settled with this one here.

I wrote this song when I first moved to Georgia. It was a reflection of my anxiety brought about by my struggle to find adequate work. The lyrics were compiled from a jumble of one-liners taken from various diary entries from that period.

I wrote the lyrics to this song while aboard a rusty old train pulling out of the city of Prague in the Czech Republic. My experience in the city had been cruel yet beautiful.
day-dreams:
These instrumental pieces were recorded almost as diary entries. When I wanted to express a feeling, and could not put it into actual words, I'd turn on my recording machines and play whatever came to me. Usually I would start by playing guitar, and just seeing what came out, and then I would layer on more instrumentation to flesh out the piece. The only rule was that I could never delete anything I recorded, so everything was done in one take, and remained true to exactly how I was feeling in that moment. I often found that this form of expression better depicted my feelings than any collection of words in a diary entry ever could.

These songs are the products of thoughts and feelings surrounding issues I was faced with during my high school years - everything from girls, to church, to suicidal friends, and whatever random thoughts and ideas seemed important to me at the time.
